On Friday, October 25th, the students in Knit for a Cause visited 5 Miles East, an alpaca farm near Bloomington. While there, they got to pet the alpacas, learn about the process of shearing an animal and making it into yarn, as well as participating in crafts! They felted alpaca and sheep fiber to make beads for earrings and keychains. They also stuffed grapevine balls with alpaca fiber; these balls will hang from the trees in spring for birds to use the fiber in their nest! It might have been chilly, but it was smiles all around as they soaked up the information and fun!
